Credit Weight: 1.0 Description: Under the Canadian government Indian policy of devolution, negotiations are occuring between the government of Canada, represented by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) and various Indian bands and Tribal organizations for the transfer of Jurisdiction for education back to Indians. This course explores this process of negotiation taking into consideration treaty obligations in regard to education, statutory requirements for education and contemporary federal, provincial and Indian education policy.
