Credit Weight: 0.5 Description: With special focus on the Arctic and sub-Arctic, this course offers students an overview of the northern experience. It will include an historical appraisal of the First Peoples and a more contemporary account of the northern population. Topics range from the whaling activities of the First Nations’ Peoples, through shelter type and/or form, to the impact of industrial development on the First Nations’ population. Particular attention will be paid to issues such as hydro-electric power development, forestry, mining and pipeline construction.
