Credit Weight: 0.5 Description: An introduction to the identification of trees of Canada including important introduced species. Lab instruction builds upon field school experience and emphasizes identification, classification, site requirements and uses of important species. Lecture instruction emphasizes relevant conifer and hardwood morphology, taxonomy, Canadian forest vegetation and elementary ecological concepts. Scientific names and terminology are used in lectures, laboratory work and examinations. Each student is required to complete a plant collection and to pass an outdoor tree identification test.
