Credit Weight: 0.5 Description: An introduction to the principles of resource conservation and an examination of several forms of conservation from various regions of the world. Social issues, including population growth, related to resource conservation and regional, national and local conservation strategies in developing countries will be examined. Lab sessions will give students an opportunity to analyze some of the current initiatives in conservation in the global context including the Tropical Forestry Action Plan, the World Conservation Strategy, National Conservation Strategies and The World Commission on the Environment and Development.
