This lecture and seminar course looks at the development of health policies from a comparative perspective. Beginning with the Canadian health care system, the course examines the evolution of health policies in advanced industrial and modernizing societies. Lectures explore variations in determinants of health, policy responses, societal impacts, options and proposed reforms. Special attention is paid to issues of cost, access and quality of care.
