Credit Weight: 0.5 Prerequisite(s): Political science 1100 or permission of the instructor Description: The formulation and implementation of public policy in developing countries are among the most critical functions of their governments, and the process becomes increasingly complex in the context of their vulnerable position as poorer countries in the global system. The course content examines the validity and application of key concepts of public policy outside the context of liberal industrialized democracies by exploring the policy process in developing countries, looking at the roles of governments, political parties, interest groups, non-governmental organizations and international agencies, with particular reference to development.
