Credit Weight: 1.0 Prerequisite(s): Visual Arts 1080 or permission of the instructor Description: An examination of feminism, gender, and sexuality in relation to the visual art produced by women during the 1960’s to present. Students will also study the representations of women and femininity in Western visual culture during the same period. The first half of the course examines women as subjects and producers of art. The second half of the course explores the ways in which visual culture constructs, manipulates and subverts “woman” as a cultural and social category.
